Status of Swine Flu in India

Swine Flu started in India around May 2009 from international travelers. India's first swine flu death was on August 4 of a girl in Pune. Since then, it has been taken lots of lives throughout India. However, the government is taking appropriate steps to stop the pandemic and it is under control now.

Impact on travel in India

Travel in and out of India has remain unaffected at large. Within India, travel to state of Maharashtra, and Pune city in particular was affected but people are traveling again now. International travel has mostly resumed to normal levels.

After the initial hype and panic, life is back to normal everywhere in India. Even in Pune, the worst affected city in India, you'll rarely see people wearing masks. With the festive season starting in India, people are back to shopping, hanging out, enjoying life.

However, with winter starting, we need to be cautious and make sure the deadly virus remains under control.

Sandeep First time to this website and impressed with its content and idea behind it.

I don't think its a good idea to provide the stats on a website without referring to source. As these could be misleading sometime. Probably good to provide updates based on authentic sources is better than just saying you got it from some sources.

cheers
Sandeep

i am planing to travel bangalore for 7 days, from 24 th of september to 1st october , can i have updated flu situation about bangalore, is it sefe to travel , or should i postpon? we are 3 people myself my wife & my 5 yr old son, please advise,,,,

ranavikas Even though the no. of deaths are on higher side, the situation in Bangalore is still ok. You can travel to Bangalore, but take precautions - carry masks, especially for your son since children have lower immune and are more likely to catch it. Also, avoid crowded places as much as possible.

Keep yourself updated of the situation as you near your travel date.

The death in Goa is not confirmed as yet as death caused due to Swine Flu. In fact, the government sources say that it is NOT a case of swine flu death.

Prakash Personal and public hygiene is the best way to combat virus and bacterial infections. One should wash hands regularly with a good detergent soap and disinfect the surroundings, especially toilets and other humid places. Despite ecological/environmental objections the best way to disinfect is to use chlorine based solutions. As in swimming pools, the place would stink of chlorine and too much of it is certainly bad so just use dilute solutions but on a regular basis and wash hands thoroughly afterwards especially before eating so as not to ingest or inhale too much chlorine. Another good and cheap disinfectant is a solution of common salt. Again, just enough to disinfect and wash off the excess.
