MP Govt. to Lease out 700 Hectares for Tourism Projects

In an attempt to encourage and attract private investments in the tourism sector in the state, Madhya Pradesh government is all set to lease out the 700 hectares of area for projects related to tourism. This process of leasing out land will continue in an open competitive bidding for a period of nearly 30 years. Vinod Semwal, the Principal Secretary of tourism in Madhya Pradesh, attended the foremost Tourism Conclave organized by FICCI and Madhya Pradesh Tourism and said that the private investors needed to be engaged in a proactive manner.

Giving a presentation on tourism in Madhya Pradesh, Mr. Rag mentioned that the tourism department has old palaces and seven forts that will be developed as hospitality units. The tourism body is also thinking of developing Mala Shree and Sailani islands in Gandhi Sagar.

Earlier, while inaugurating the Conclave and B2B meet, Laxmikant Sharma, Minister of Culture, Madhya Pradesh, said, “It is important for the state tourism body to package and market the destination to attract tourists. With Madhya Pradesh being the heartland of India, opportunities in tourism are immense.”

On this occasion, a keynote was delivered by Jyotsna Suri, who is the Chairperson of the Tourism Committee, FICCI; Mohan Yadav, who is the Chairman of MPTDC; and Rajiv Kanoria, who is the President of FICCI.
