If you are suffering from Asthma, then you can hope for some cure at Hyderabad as this medicine has no side effects and also no harmful substances in it. It is a unique medicine of live fish given only on a particular day and that too at the one and only venue in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.

The Bathini Goud brothers who give this medicine claim to have received the knowledge from their fore fathers. Distribution of medicine takes place once a year on the sixth day of the second fortnight of the Shukla Paksha (month of Jesthya), which is usually in June.

Traditions

More than a festival, this is an event observed on a particular day called Mrigasira Karthi; the members of the Bathini Goud family distribute this medicine to people suffering from asthma for free. The medicine is stuffed into the murrel fish, which is about 2 2 ½ inches long, and the fish is swallowed by the patients.

It is claimed by the Bathini family that the fish removes all the phlegm sliding through the throat. It is said that the medicine completely cures asthma when 3 doses of medicine is consumed on the 3 successive Karthis – Arudra Karthi, Punnavasu Karthi and Pushymi Karti and by following a strict diet for 45 days.

Tourist Essential

Tourists interested and inquisitive about this event can see the wonder of millions of people gathering for the medicine. Free samples will be given if requested. Some of the medicine was subjected to tests in the years 2004 and 2005, and it was found that it doesn’t cause any harm. However, the family does not disclose the secret of the medicine as they believe that the medicine looses it efficacy if the secret is revealed or commercialized.
