Ferozpur is located on the banks of the River Sutlej in the
district of Ferozpur in the state of Punjab. This city was founded by the
Muslim ruler Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq. It is said that the town was named
after the chief of the Manj Rajputs of the Bhatti clan during the mid 16th
Ferozpur is a place of historic importance in the Indian
history as this was the place where the British Raj established control over
the northwestern India and a popular place to holiday in North India. The city is often called ‘Shaheedon Ki Dharti’, or the
land of martyrs as the revolutionary trio of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru
used this place for planning against the British Raj. It was in this place that
their dead bodies were buried off in haste.

This memorial was constructed in the memory of the 21
soldiers who sacrificed their lives while defending the Saragarhi Fort in the
year 1897. They fought valiantly against a troupe of 1000 pathans who attacked
the fort all of a sudden. They fought a fierce battle for more than seven hours
before sacrificing their lives. A Gurudwara was erected by the army as a
memorial. Ferozpu is a popular historical destination which is a part of most of Punjab tour packages.
This fort was built in the memory of the soldiers of 7
Infantry who sacrificed their lives. This battle was fought in the year 1965
during which the town was captured by the enemies. This memorial has a tank, a
water fountain and central pillar. The height of the pillar is nearly 27 meters.
This is also called as the National Martyrs Memorial and is
devoted in the memory of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru who lit a flame here
before laying their lives for the sake of their motherland. Their bodies were
cremated without any proper ceremony. Ferozpur can be easily reached by taking up holiday tours from Delhi.
This is a place of religious importance in the city and is
also visited by a huge number of devotees from the regions nearby. There are a
lot of idols of Hindu deities within the premises of the temples.
Bhagat Singh Memorial
In order to pay homage to the brave freedom fighters, who
laid down their lives for the country a memorial was erected. A huge fair is
organized here on 23 March and is attended by a large gathering.
This is a religious place in Ferozpur whose foundation stone
