The first Sikkim Snow
festival being jointly organised by Travel Agents Association of Sikkim and the
Department and Sikkim Hotels and Restaurant Association (SHRA) will begin in
February 2012. The festival is focused on helping Sikkim recover from tourism
losses that occurred after the devastating earthquake in year 2011. The
festival will also provide an opportunity to the younger generation to get into
tourism industry. The Snow Festival will be henceforth organised every year in
the month of January-February. The festival being aimed at safeguarding the
culture, biodiversity and floriculture of Sikkim and is a great excuse to take up Sikkim tour packages.

The month of February brings to Sikkim extensive
snow cover rendering the state as an idle eco-tourism destination full of
beauty, serenity and as well as adventure. In 2012, the Snow and Culture festival will be held from February 14 to
