Panch Prayag Yatra - Celebrating the Confluences

This pilgrimage journey covers the five destinations of Devaprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Nandprayag and Vinshnuprayag. The pilgrimage marks the confluence of the five holiest rivers in the Garhwal region - Bhagirathi, Mandakani, Pindar, Nandakini and Dhauliganga. The Yatra is accessible throughout the year and tourists can take taxis and buses to reach the respective destinations. Hemkund Sahib - The Sole Sikh Shrine in Uttaranchal

The only Sikh pilgrimage in Uttaranchal, Hemkund Sahib is said to be the the place where Sikh guru, Guru Gobind Singh sat in meditation in his previous incarnation. The place gained popularity only in the year 1930 and since then has become a holy spot for the Sikhs. Pilgrims take dips in the icy water of the lake before succumbing themselves in the Gurudwara located close by.

Besides there are various other destinations that too are noted for their mythological and historical connections. Joshimath, Uttraakashi and Srinagar are a few other holy destinations in Uttaranchal that should not be missed by the pilgrims.
