Shivgiri is an enchanting forest located above the Yemmedoddi village in the Hoggarekangri hills and towards the north of the Baba Budan Giri hills, in the state of Karnataka. This 100 year old reserve is famous for showcasing the vibrancy of nature.

Shivgiri is very remote and serene making it an ideal destination for tourists to escape the bustle and monotony of city life. Some of the popular activities one can enjoy on their Shivgiri tours in Karnataka are trekking, wildlife spotting and rock climbing which makes it a haven for adventure lovers and wildlife enthusiasts.

Bird watching is also a popular activity here and the delightful sound of birds chirping can be constantly heard. The mighty Doddabale Siddaragudda Peak (5500 feet) is situated in the region and offers a magnificent view of the Lord Shiva Temple.

Best Time to Visit Shivgiri

Shivgiri can be visited throughout the year. However, one must avoid booking Shivgiri holiday packages in South India between the months of July and August because of the onset of monsoon which does not allow you to indulge in any adventure activity.
