Covering an area of around 43 square km, the beautiful Singba Rhododendron Sanctuary in the Valley of Yumthang in northern part of Sikkim is a popular tourist attraction of the place. Rich in natural vegetation, the sanctuary is renowned for having a wide variety of more 40 species of Rhododendron shrubs and trees. The sanctuary truly comes alive during spring season, when these trees bear colourful flowers, giving a wonderful sight to the onlookers.
Along with Rhododendrons, the sanctuary houses different other species of trees like Potentillas, Saxifrages, Primulas, Aconites, Poppies, Gentians and many more. The sanctuary is also home to various wildlife such Tigers, Goral, Hill Partridge, Serow, Spotted Linsang, Blood Pheasant and others.
It is best to visit Singba Rhododendron Sanctuary during spring season (April to May end), when the Rhododendrons are in full bloom.
