A very common name to all trekker’s and mountaineers round the globe, Yuksam was actually Sikkim’s first capital under the Chogyal Kingdom. Although it is no longer the capital, it still retains its value as a village that induces harmony into one and all. This place is considered as the point of rendezvous of the three lamas. Everything from bird watching to mountaineering is possible in this place.
The climate is pleasant throughout the year so this place attracts a number of trekkers, bird watchers and environmentalists from all over the world. Accommodation is sometimes provided in the monastery itself. Cheap hotels are also available and they charge Rs. 200 to Rs. 500 for a room.
Economic Yuksam hotels should cost you anywhere between Rs. 800 to Rs. 2000 for a double bed room. The facilities are very good and you can choose to have a room of the peaks and lush foliage.
High class hotels and luxury suits are also available but the price limit is set a little higher. You can get a well decorated suite with air conditioning and other facilities for a starting price of Rs. 3000. Other facilities include Wi-Fi, gym, spa and complimentary yoga lessons.
