Situated in Varkala, the Janardhanaswamy Temple is 25 km to the north of Thiruvananthapuram. The temple is just 3 km away from Varkala railway station. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Janardhanaswamy Temple is well known for Arattu festival which is celebrated every year in Meenam(March-April) for ten days.

The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is more than 2000 years old. Thousands of devotees visit the temple during Arattu festival. The grand procession by caparisoned elephants in which ornamental silk umbrellas, peacock fans etc. are carried, simply adds color and excitement to the festival. Built in South- Indian architectural style, the temple is worth to pay a visit.
