The chief deity for whom the whole city of Varanasi is dedicated is Kashi Vishwanath, one of the manifestations of Lord Shiva. The presence of Kashi Vishwanath Temple makes Varanasi as the most sacred city in India. The temple is dedicated to Vishwanath Jyotirlinga, one among the twelve renowned and religiously acclaimed Jyotirlingas of India.

The present Kashi Vishwanath Temple was built in the 18th century by Rani Ahalyabai Holkar of Indore. It is located on the banks on the holy River Ganges overlooking the whole city of Kashi. It is believed that view of the Vishwanath Jyotirlinga enlighten the spirituality and is considered to be the most sacred event in one’s life time.

There is a website developed in 2007 for this temple. One can offer poojas and rituals through this website.
