Tirupur is well connected to the rest of Tamil Nadu by a network of buses and trains. It’s proximity to the main city of Coimbatore adds to its advantages, as the city of Coimbatore has a major airport and Tirupur can be easily reached by taking a flight to Coimbatore.
Buses are the preferred mode of transport in the state of Tamil Nadu. The region has a very well established network of buses, and regular buses ply everywhere between all major cities and minor towns and villages. There are regular buses from the nearby cities and towns of Pollachi and Coimbatore to Tirupur. There are also buses from Salem, Erode, Ariyalur, Chidambaram, Theni, Rajapalayam, Madurai and Dindigul. Bus fares normally range around Rs 50 to 500 depending on the distance involved. Buses from Chennai and Madurai are available in air conditioned and non air conditioned varieties. Buses to Kochi, Trivandrum and Trichur are also available from the neighboring state of Kerala.
Tirupur has a railway station and almost all expresses trains that ply down south stop here. Regular trains will be available from the cities and towns of Coimbatore, Erode, Bangalore, Salem, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kanyakumari. Train fares will range between Rs 150 to 300 for the basic class of travel.
