A renowned temple dating back to 10th centuries, Paramekavu Bhagavathy Temple is one of the biggest Bhagavathy temples in Kerala. The prime deity is Goddess Durga in the form of Bhagavathy. Mentioned in many historical books and folk arts, the temple is very popular among the devotees.

Paramekavu Bhagavathy Temple plays a major role in Thrissur pooram. The famous Thrissur pooram festival procession starts from two temples and stand face to face in the Thrissur town, one starting from Paramekkavu and the other from Thiruvambady. It is believed that Paramekkavu Bhagavathy come out from the temple and goes to Vadakkunatha temple to visit Lord Shiva.

The temple is open to all from 4.30 am - 10.30 am and 5 pm - 8.30 pm.
