Hazratbal Mosque

A shrine known by different name, such as Dargah Sharif, Assar-e-Sharif and Madinat-Us-Sani, Hazratbal Mosque is placed on the banks of the majestic Dal Lake in its western side and is considered as one of the most important shrine of Muslims. With the impressive Nishat Bagh in the opposite, this enchanting white marble mosque offers a verdant look of the Lake in the back drop of scenic mountains.

The visitors have the opportunity of an amazing view of the reflection of this Mosque, one and only one domed shrine in Srinagar, in the lake with lots of illuminations and greenish picturesque mountains in the back.

The mosque, a combination of Kashmiri and Mughal styles of architecture, has a historical significance from 17th century onwards. The distinctiveness of the Hazratbal Mosque is that it enshrines the sacred hair (Moi-e-Muqaddas) of the prophet Muhammad, which is shown to public only on special occasions. Friday prayers are routine.
