Key Monastery (also spelled as Ki/Kye or Kee) is located at a distance of 20 km from Kaza, Spiti. Perched at a height of 4116 m above the sea level, the monastery is one of the oldest and biggest monasteries in Spiti. Built in the Pasada style of architecture, the monastery is the perfect example of monastic architecture, developed during 14th century in the wake of Chinese influence.

Enshrining Buddha images and idols in the position of Dhyana, the monastery houses a wide collection of ancient murals as well as books of high aesthetic value. A visit to this monastery is a must while traveling to Spiti.
