A holy place in the middle ganges plateau, Sitamarhi situates on the western banks of the Lakhandai river. This sleepy district in the northern Bihar upholds a long tradition and cultural heritage that has its footings on the great epic Ramayana. As the name suggests, Sitamarhi is closely related to Sita devi, the icon of Indian women hood.

As the birthplace of Goddess Sita, this hamlet boasts of a colourful history that unfurls the baffling story of goddess Sita. Tradition and legend says that goddess Sita sprang in to life while King Janaka were ploughing the field in order to please Lord Indra, the god of rains. As u know goddess sita was born in sitamarhi. I proud to be an inhabitants of such holy place. What u think just go there and see. And one more thing, don't forget to take balusahi(sweets). in my opinion one of the best sweets of indian tradition.

I love this place and balusahi. My birth place is 4 miles from Sitamarhi. I gratuated from Laxmi High School, sitamarhi in 1961 and wish to visit this place as many times as time permits.

its one of the most holy place in the world.peda available near marabir asthan is so testy ...........sweete such as balusahi is so famous of sitamarrhi......
