Simlipal is a picturesque and scenic town in Orissa located at Marurbhanj district. The city, once hunting location of the erstwhile Maharaja’s of Marurbhanj, is credited with the largest wildlife sanctuary in India and also is one of the main tiger project centre in the country. Simlipal derived its name from the silk cotton tree known locally as Simul. One can enjoy the complete bio-diversity in this nature’s gift. The park is open for public from Nov 1 to June 15 only.

This area is located at a plateau with an average elevation of 900 m from sea level. Simlipal is enriched with thick dense forests, imposing meadows, stunning waterfalls and mind blowing rivers. The lush green forests and the cool breeze emerging out from the woody forests makes this place a perfect location for forest camping. The mesmerizing beauty of the surrounding forests and valleys offer eye catching views for the enthusiastic travelers.
