A proud testimonial to the rich cultural and religious heritage of India, Sanchi Museum houses invaluable objects that belong to the early years of fist to third centuries. It has now become one among the alluring tourist attractions in Sanchi.
Neatly set up in very luxuriant surroundings this museum displays atypical and traditional items. Pottery, metal objects, Caskets, Parts of the Toranas or ornate gateways are some objects that found in the museum. But the most precious asset in the Museum is the Ashoka Lion Capital. Statuette Buddha imprinted in red sandstone and a Yakshi are also quite worth mentioning.
Functioning under the Archaeological Survey of India, the Museum is open from 10 am to 5 pm on all days except on Fridays.
