Saiha is a town that is situated in the district of Saiha in the state of Mizoram. The word Saiha literally means elephant tooth and it is said that numerous elephant teeth were found in this area. The town is situated very close to the Myanmar border and it is home to the Mara tribe. It is a relatively well developed city and it is one of the main commercial hubs of the region. The entire region is a picturesque place and there are many streams and rivulets that can be found here. These pristine locales attract many tourists and one can see many people from the nearby regions in the tourist sports surrounding the town.
The town is situated in the foothills of the mountains and this makes it an ideal spot for activities such as hiking, trekking and nature walking. There are many trekking spots in the region that attract amateurs and professionals alike. Fishing and angling are also possible in the various streams and these are a popular activity in the region. One can also visit the Lake Palak that is situated around 45 kilometers from the town of Saiha. The Blue Mountain is also worth the visit.
