Travel within city
Ranikhet is small hill station in the State of Uttarkand. It is located in sight of the western peaks of the Himalayas.
Some of the local transportation options are buses, taxis and jeeps.
Local buses are found in the main areas of the town. They operate to most of the interesting tourist destinations and are a cheap option. Tickets cost between Rs 10 to 20. However they are slow and many buses find it difficult to climb slopes as they are not maintained properly.
Jeeps are a good option and they are available extensively. Prices have to be negotiated before boarding and can be used for day trips to nearby areas. Jeeps cost around Rs 750 per day.
Taxis are also found in stands and are a good option for visiting some of the temples and other sites within and just outside the city. There are no metered taxis and the prices are negotiable.
