Janapada Loka, located at Ramanagara district on the Bangalore-Mysore highway is an institution which aims to preserve and propagate Karnataka’s rural folk culture. It spreads an area of about 15 acres. Founded by folklore enthusiast Shri Nage Gowda, it has an array of artefacts representing the folk culture, literature, music, dance, sculpture and lifestyle of rural Karnataka.
There is also a museum, puppet theatre, open-air theatre, Saraswathi Mandira, Loka Mahal and Loka Sarovara, an artificial with sand beach at Janapada Loka. It is a perfect place to visit for those wanting to explore the rural art and culture of Karnataka.
