Bird watching is a celebration in Rajaji National Park. The Bird sanctuary in the wetland of Assan Barrage, located near the convergence of two rich rivers Yamuna and Assan.

The region is a paradise for bird watchers and Nature loving enthusiasts. This area contains many endangered species of rare birds. Even though the declared Sanctuary is small in area, the region is amazingly enriched with domestic and migratory birds. This barrage is a halting place for many trans-Himalayan migratory birds, during their travel to southern India and also during their return.

Very rare migratory birds are spotted here during the seasons October-November and February-March. These include Brahminy Duck, Red Crested Pochard, Pintail, Gadwall, Mallard, Wigeon, Coot, Common Pochard, Tufted Duck, Common Teal, and Shoveller. This is an ideal place for bird watchers.
