March is fine. Holi is usually around then, and the temperature is pretty much spot-on during that period. Beware of lake-side Brahmin scammers. If anybody runs up to you offering you flowers, refuse to take them. It is a big scam to get you to do a puja by the lake, for a hefty price. Just put your hands behind your back (or they'll stuff them into your hands) and refuse. Holi is great fun there, but some western women have had trouble from Indian tourists, who have been known to grab their breasts (sometimes after throwing paint into their boyfriends' eyes). Groups of teenage boys wielding paint should be avoided if you have a female in the group. Also watch out for the Pushkar Bhang Lassis, which are infamous. These can be very, very, very strong - be warned.
