Sinhagarh Fort, located at a distance of 20 km south-west of Pune was earlier called as Kondana or Kondhana fort. It stands at a height of 1380 m above the sea level on an isolated cliff of the Bhuleshwar range of the Sahyadri Mountains. The fort has been a site for many battles especially the battle of Singhagarh held in 1670.

With two gates in the south-east and north-east, respectively known as Kalyan Darwaza and Pun Darwaza, the fort is protected by its very steep slopes, strong walls and bastions, constructed at the key places. The fort even played a significant role of defending Pune during Maratha period.
