Piduguralla is a small town in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, located at 16’29 N 79’54 E. This place is famous for its cement and limestone industries and the rich cotton and chili crops. It is called ‘Limestone City’ after its most famous product.
Pidugurulla is just about 30 kilometers from Guntur, and the nearest airport is in Hyderabad at a distance of 180 kilometers. It is well connected by rail and road to most major cities of Andhra Pradesh and the neighboring states. It is within easy reach of many culturally and historically significant places.
The proximity of Piduguralla to the river Krishna makes the region’s weather similar to that in the coastal regions, with hot summers characterized by high humidity and pleasant winters along with a heavy monsoon period. The river Krishna is at its deepest in this region, giving plenty of opportunities for boating and enjoying the scenery from the water. The typical tropical weather means that the best time to visit this place is between the months of October to March.
There is an Ayyappa temple, which is one of the most famous temples in Andhra Pradesh. There are also temples devoted to Lord Shiva and his consort Parvathi and to Lord Rama and Hanuman, called the Shivalayam, Sri Vasavi Kannikaparameswari Temple, the Ramalayam and the Prasanna Anjaneya Temple respectively. There is another famous temple dedicated to the Goddess Durga called the Sri Kanaka Durga Temple. This temple draws devotees throughout the year, and the best time to visit the temple is during the early morning cycle of prayers when the crowd is less.
