Rabdentse holds an important place in the history of Sikkim. Rabdentse Palace Ruins, situated close to Pemayangtse Monastery is an important archeological site in India. Destroyed by the invading Nepalese Army, one can only see the ruins of palaces and chortens at present. The site is an integral part of Buddhist pilgrimage circuit that includes many monasteries of Yuksom.

The Rabdentse Palace Ruins has two wings – the northern wing and the southern wing. The northern wing consists of the residence of the royal family and the ruins of “Dab Lhagang”, where the Royal family used to offer prayers to their deities. Next to the palace ruins, one can also witness three chortens, an important religious spot for the Royal family. While common people were given audience by the King on the southern wing of the ruins. The site also offers picturesque view of the majestic mountains.
