Pattadakkal is a town that is located in the Bagalkot District in the State of Karnataka. Pattadakkal is located around 10 from the town of Aihole and around 22 km from the town of Badami. The town is home to many world heritage sites and they are known for their ancient architecture.
Pattadakkal is home to a few temples that were built during the 8th century. The temples are an example of the fusion architecture of those times. The temples were built in a style that compasses both the Dravidian style of architecture as well as the Nagara style which was preferred in the Northern States. The temples have been a UESCO heritage site since 1987. The main attractions in the town of Pattadakkal are the ten temples. They were built during the Chalukya Dynasty in the 8th century. There is a Jain temple that is located near the others and this was also built during this time. 4 of 10 temples were built in the Nagara style and 4 were built using the Dravidian style. The remaining 2 temples were built using a mixture of both the styles. Pattadakkal is a perfect place to see different styles of architecture being combined.
