Built by Chalukya King Vijayaditya, Sangameshwara Temple in Pattadakal is one of the oldest temples in Karnataka. This Dravidian style temple was earlier known as Vijayeswara temple. It comprises of an inner passage, a hall and a Sanctum. The outer wall of the temple consists of the structures of Ugranarasimha and Nataraja. However, the hall and the roof of the Sangameshwara Temple are of similar design with the well-known Virupaksha Temple. Skillfully and amazingly crafted structure, the temple is a perfect example to witness the traditional heritage of Chalukya architecture.
