Pangot is located in the Nainital district of the state of Uttarakhand. The place is located near the popular hill station of Nainital. The village is generally surrounded by many forests and the drive from Nainital is through a dense wooded area.
There are two main viewpoints that are located nearby and they are called Kilbury and Snow View Point. These are excellent places to see many species of birds. Some of the birds that can be spotted in the area are bellied woodpeckers, blue winged minlas, khalij pheasants, Himalayan griffons and many others. There are over 150 species of birds that can be seen in this region. There are numerous watering holes that are located in the region of Pangot and one can spot a few species of animals in these places. Some of the animals that are present in the region are leopards, Himalayan martins, sambhar deer, barking deer, civets and ghorals.
There are a few resorts that are located in the place as well and the main attraction of the place is the scenic beauty. There are a few trekking spots that can be seen in the area. It is a good place to indulge in nature walks and long treks.
