One thing,i can sense is that you seems to have completely enjoyed your car ride, especially the driving part

Ooty is also pretty cool in the off season. Most of the hotels will be sparsely staffed, but you should be able to find off-beat accommodation. I looked at indiahotels, traveglguru.com and www.namastay.in. Finally ended up booking a heritage place through namastay.in. Oh, and if you're driving, avoid an old tata car. There were at atleast 7-8 of them stalled on the 36 hair pin bend road! :)
