Presently renowned as Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali National Park is a unique wildlife park situated within the city limits of Mumbai. The Park was known as Krishnagiri Park during pre-independence period and later as Borivali National Park. In 1990 the park is renamed as Sanjay Gandhi National park. It has the reputation of being the most visited National Park and also being the World’s largest park within the city limits.
The park enriched with varieties of flora and fauna attracts lot of tourists all through the year. The 2400 years old Kanheri caves, carved out of rocky mounts, lie within this park. Lusting sceneries, dense greenish woods and the abundance of wild life makes Borivali National Park unique. The Park is the natural habitat of insects, mammals, reptiles, butterflies and flowering plants. The park houses many plants and animals in the endangered list.

Elephanta caves are located at Gharapuri Island, a confabulation of three small villages nearby Mumbai. These caves, a UNESCO world heritage site, are frequently visited by domestic and foreign travelers. The caves assumed to be dating back to the period 9th to 13th century AD, are famous for the ancient sculptures and the temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
The prime deity in the temple is Ardhanarishwara, a blend of half man and half woman representing Shiva and Parvathy. The temple, made out of rock cuts, is designed based on the Hindu astrological knowledge base, clearly taking into account geometrical mandala and energy levels.
Wonderful sculpture of Elephanta, depicting three faces of Trinity, Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara , is a marvelous attraction of the caves. It is a highly worth attraction in Mumabi to visit.

Kanheri caves are located well inside the thick forest area of Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Borivali. These caves numbering about 109 built during the Maurya and Kushana period dates back to 2nd century BC to 9th century. These caves were served as Buddhist Viharas. These were used for meditation, study and living by Buddhist monks and turned to monasteries by 3rd century.
Each of this caves are adorned with stone plinth used as bed and stupa with massive huge pillars. The inscriptions based on Buddha’s life and preaching are worth for a visit. Kanheri, literally means black in color, is located at a height of about 1500 feet from sea level and is a perfect place to have the panoramic view of down city and Arabian Sea.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, earlier known as Victoria Terminus in Mumbai, is an important building spotted in the UNESCO World Heritage List and is located at D N Road. In 1888 this building was built as the rail terminus based on the model of St Pancras Station in London and is designed by English architect Frederick William Stevens. The construction took nearly 10 years and was opened for rail commuters.

Walkeshwar temple, an ancient temple also known as Banganga Temple, is perfectly placed in the scenic surroundings in Malabar hills in South Mumbai. Walkeshwar Temple is dedicated to the main deity Lord Shiva and the legend relates the origin of this temple with Lord Rama and Sita. The temple is built during Silhara Dynasty in 1127 AD and the temple was destroyed during the Portuguese invasion. Later it was renovated by s group of devotees.
The main feature of the temple is the Banganga, a water tank, which is enriched with fresh water all through the year. A number of small shrines dedicated to Hindu Gods and Goddesses are housed around the water tank. Many devotees throng to the temple during the full moon days and no moon days (Amavasya).
