Midnapore is located in the Indian state of West Bengal, and this place is a prominent tourist destination in the state. It is bordered by regions of Orissa in the south and Jharkhand in the west. The district is named after Medinimata, a local deity in the region popular among the pilgrims here. Midnapore mainly serves as a place where you can brush up a bit of history and learn more about India’s freedom struggle. Many local monuments are present, dedicated to freedom fighters that lost their lives for a cause. History buffs will thus love traveling to Midnapore.
Midnapore is also a very famous destination among pilgrims, due to the presence of a large number of temples in the region.
