A beautiful hill fort, famous for exquisite stone carvings, Mahuli fort, is situated in the Kasara Region of Maharashtra. Placed at a height of 762 meters, this monument is nestled in the midst of thick woody forest. A gorgeous river flows through the base of the fort makes it more charming.
A small finger shaped pinnacle distinguishes the Mahuli fort from the near by mountains. Mahouli fort is acclaimed with the privilege of being the highest point in the near by locality. This amazing structure was the hub of all defense activities of the great Marathas.
At a height of 600 meters, there is a large plateau from where the panoramic view of Tansa lake is visible. The most interesting fact about this structure is that its routs to the interiors are rather confusing. The fort which witnessed numerous important wars is now become a hotspot of visitors due to its easy accessibility.

A marvelous Jain temple, located at the base of the Mahuli hill is popularly known as shri Bhuvan Bhanu Jain Manas Mandir Tirtha. An awesome panchaloha (5 metals) idol of Aadeshwar Bhagwan adorns the garbha griha (sanctum) of the temple, and it makes the devotee think that the deity will speak at the very moment.
A large temple complex at the top of a hill and a river flowing beneath is indeed a stunning scenario. The 76 feet pillar less dome and its superb ceilings, tremendous carvings reveal the architectural brilliance of the makers of this fabulous shrine.
Another important attraction of this incredible shrine is that, the old temple excavated from Gujarat is located a few meters away and it houses marble statues of 500-700 years old. In the backyard of the old temple, there is a 100 years old banyan tree, which is a habitat for so many rare snakes.
All these wonderful structures and its surrounding lush greenery, makes Manas Mandir, a must seen holy place.

A picturesque lake, formed across the Tansa river is placed within the Tansa Wildlife Sanctuary, in Thane District of Maharashtra. Tansa lake, one among the largest lakes, with a capacity of 3 million gallons of water is the chief source of drinking water to Mumbai.
Bounded by the woody forests of the mahuli hills, this magnificient lake is an abundant resource of water and it is the perpetual source of water to the near by wildlife sanctuary. The main attraction in and around this artificial lake is the Tansa wild life sanctuary, that spread over a vast area of the thick forest. This sanctuary houses rare species like panther, Cheeta, Sambar and common languor.
The Tansa lake with its silent and colossal spread of water amidst a woody forest is really a nice place and worth for a one day tour.

Trekking in Sahyadri mountain range is always been a fascinating adventure. The entire region is a hub of challenging sporting activities and Mahuli is not an exception. It is a perfect place of trekking for the novices. The hilly terrain with mountain range forts is excellent venues for trekking.
Numerous forts in the Mahuli region are the thriving centers for one or two day trekking. Though Mahuli is the favourite trekking spot, Chanderi is not far behind. The pinnacles in the Chanderi region are little steeper and tricky. This cluster of pinnacles and the famous forts allures the trekkers for decades.
Trekking in Mahuli needs a bit of stamina and courage. These fabulous place offers the golden opportunity to add thrill to our life through the challenging activities.
