ashok pai monsoon is a great time to visit too. the hotels mostly go into hibernation for a good 3-4 months. the rains are quite heavy. so it becomes rather convenient for honeymooners :) the hotels have between 1/4 to half the price of regular season. try and get a steep discount or a package deal. basically the hotels need some occupancy. remember you dont get a steep discount at the bottom end of the chain - its mid to high end hotels whose exorbitant rates have to but off. if you are planning to go now be prepared to be ready for the outing only when the rain stops, hire a taxi and bargain before hand. there's lonavla, panchgani, mahabaleshwar, pratapgad to be visited - if you are in a mood to travel. for honeymooners who want to stay put, mahabaleshwar has places nearby - walking distance, only thing it rains frequently, and when it does there's breeze and heavy rains. but the places transforms into a bed of cotton, clouds all over, lush green, brooks and dtreams, small waterfalls everywhere - just like the photo above.

take a bus from pune. the bus frequency to and fro would have been reduced due to monsoon and less travelers, so plan and book in advance for surety - not forseeing a rush!
