Lonavala, located by Sir Elphinstone, the then Governor of Bombay Presidency in 1871, derived its name from a Sanskrit word Lonavli means caves. Lonavala is a hill station located quite close to Mumbai and is one of the top destinations frequented by tourists in India. Travelling around the hill station Lonavala can be quite easy, as the town is a really small one. You can opt for one of the available options and can travel around Lonavala through buses or rented cycles and auto rickshaws or taxis.
Taxi
You can also opt for taxis in Lonavala and these will be available from all the major parts of the city, including the bus stand and the railway station. Taxis in Lonavala do not have any meter and tourists need to fix the rates before availing the taxi.
