Lombok, an island located in West Nusa Tenggara province in Indonesia. It is a place of tourist attraction, lying east of Bali. Lombok is similar in size compared to Bali but have large volcanoes. As a part of the Lesser Sunda Islands, Lombok is separated from Bali by Lombok Strait in the west and separated from Sumbawa by the Alas Strait in the east.
Lombok has many nature scenic beaches such as Seger Beach, Mawi beach, Kuta beach, Gerupuk Beach, Tanjung beach, Senggigi beach, Mawun beaches, Ekas Bayand Sire beach attracting the beach lovers internationally with untouched wide sand and crystal blue waters.
In the north westerly part of Lombok is the Gili Islands. Gili Islands comprises of three islands, Gili Meno, Gili Air and Gili Trawangan. The Gili Trawangan is the most developed one with many villas with good resort. Gili Air is very to the mainland and Gili Meno is the smallest of all islands in Indonesia, the place of attraction here is the Tamang Burung Bird Park. Boat service twice to these three islands are available daily from Lombok.
The Gili Sulat is rarely inhabited island lying 1.5 km away from Lombok in the eastern coast. It is rich in coral reefs and clear sea water view, uncommeciarlised glorious sandy beaches is of top attraction. Kuta beach is a magnificent and charming beach with strong waves dashing the coral reefs, is a place with pleasant scenery, which never to be missed.
In the south western coast of Lombok, there lies the harbor city Lembar, the main port for Bali with high traffic of ferries and passenger ships. The port front is attractive and beautiful with hilly and green tropical lands. Mataram, the capital city of Lombok, an important administrative place, comprises of three towns Ampenan Mataram and Cakranegara. There are many sight-seeing places around Mataram, The Mayura Water Palace, The famous Hindu temple, Pura Meru and Negeri Nusa Tenggara Barat Museum are top attractions of Lombok.
The very ancient Taman Narmada park which is 10 km away to the east of Lombok is of 200 years old, recreating the Mount Gunang Rinjani summit. Mt. Rinjani, the second highest volcano of Indonesia (3,726 metres) also called ‘Ring of Fire’ is flocked with domestic and international tourists and it is an exciting life time experience for the trekkers and climbers. A beautiful lake Danau Segara Anak near the hill top. It has won the world legacy award in 2004 award and the volcano is also declared internationally as one of the important eco - tourism destination.
Gunung Pengsong, the Hindu temple of Balinese at the hill top, market town Sesaot are of assorted attractions to the Tourists. The second destination place of Lombok called Priya is enriched with sight-seeing places like Penujak pottery, the pilgrimage mosque Masjid Kuno with pleasant green gardens and thatched roof. Senggigi, the charming coastal resort attracts the international tourists by its scenic beaches, bays, high class hotels, Scuba diving trips and Balinese Hindu temple Pura Batu Bolong.
At the lower slopes of Mount Rinjani lies the appealing retreat, Tetabatu with outstanding panoramas, refreshing climate, green paddy and tobacco fields serves an excellent recreation to the flocking tourists. There are also cascading waterfalls, handicraft villages and Monkey forest with black monkeys, which are never to be missed off in the sight-seeing list.
