Namgyal Tsemo Gompa, built during the 15th century by King Tashi Namgyal of Namgyal dynasty in Leh, is presently maintained by the Monks of Sankar Gompa. It is one of the ancient Gompas in the north of Leh. The Gompa attracts many visitors owing to the several ancient manuscripts; impressive frescoes and the massive Buddha image of height of a 3-storey structure.
Presently the fort above the Gompa is in ruins, still visitors are allowed to climb over the fort to overlook the beautiful Leh valley down. It is open to the visitors daily from 07:00 to 09:00 hrs and 17:00 to 20:00 hrs.
