The strong presence of Christianity is felt in Kolkata through the presence of churches and the world famous “Missionaries of Charities” of Mother Teresa. The St Paul’s Cathedral is one such monument which was constructed in 1847 and still stands tall. Situated at the heart of the city near Vitoria Memorial the Cathedral draws many eyeballs mainly due to its Indo-Gothic design and remarkable beautiful architecture.
Renovated and repaired after structural damage the cathedral has withstood numerous natural as well man made calamities. The 201ft high church has intricate art work and murals on its walls while the stained glass painting on west window warrants special mention.
