In order to reach Kodachaadri the traveler must first reach the village of Nagodi, from where the trekking starts. The traveler can reach Nagodi from either from Bangalore or Udupi. The journey takes three hours from both Bangalore and Udupi. The best option in both cases is to travel by cars to the village and hire a jeep from the village of Nagodi.
From Kollur there are frequent jeeps plying to the village carrying pilgrims and trekkers. Since the mountain roads are steep and rocky only the jeeps can travel along those roads.
For those travelling from Bangalore the best option is to hire a car from the city. The cab companies charge Rs 1500 per day. Taxis are also another option; however they might work out more expensive due to the waiting charges.
There are no bus services to the village of Nagodi. The traveler has to use the public transport from Shimoga which is approximately 285 Kms from Bangalore.
Sharp hair pin bends and rocky roads mean that driving up the hill with cars is not possible. Motor cycles are an option to negotiate the hair pins; however they might prove to be a risky option.
