Best Season / Best time to visit Kochi

The climate of Kochi remains hot and humid for most of the year. The best time to visit the place is from October to March.

Winters (October to February) are the ideal time for visiting the city as the temperature is cool and dry. Temperature ranges between 17°C to 33°C and is ideal for honeymooning and enjoying water sports on the various beaches.
Summers (March to June) are warm, dry and humid with the maximum temperature reaching up to 37°C. The weather is hot making it a little difficult for outdoor activities.
Monsoons (July to September) are accompanied by heavy rainfalls interrupting outdoor activities. But the scenic beauty of the worth seeing during monsoon season.

The months of October to February are ideally perfect for outdoor explorations, houseboat vacations, backwaters explorations, honeymooning, and exploring in and around the region. Beach activities can also be best enjoyed during this time. Monsoon months are best for tourists wanting to enjoy the scenic beauty. But this period is avoided by the ones who want to enjoy outdoors, as the area receives very heavy rainfall, bringing a halt to normal life.

Mar	Moderately Hot	The region starts heated up by March but the weather is still within the comfort zone. March is the last month before hot summer days to explore the region. Tourists can indulged in sightseeing, beach activities, backwaters exploration and outdoor trips.
Apr	Very Hot	April is hot. Day and nights will be sultry and tiring. If you can bear the heat then beach activities like swimming and other tourist activities can be still enjoy. It is recommended to wear sun protection and do prefer cotton clothes.
May	Very Hot	May is the hottest month of the year. The climate is dry and hot. Temperatures are a bit uncomfortable for outdoor expedition. If you can bear the heat then beach activities and other tourist activities can be done. Cotton clothes and sun protection is recommended for this period.
Jun	Rainy	Heavy monsoon rains in June make the atmosphere humid and moderately hot. Water clogging on the roads makes the travel a little difficult. This month is considered as not the best time for visiting Kochi but those you enjoy rains and nature enthusiast can always visit. The place is very scenic during monsoon and even the hotels/resorts also offer lower rates to visitors.
Jul	Rainy	July is the month with maximum rainfall. The beach activities are difficult. Atmospheric temperature comes down during the rainy days. This period is ideal for experiencing the scenic beauty of the place. As compared to peak season, hotels/resorts rates are also lower in monsoon.
Aug	Moderately Hot	Nature has a special attraction in August after the heavy rains. Inviting Onam season starts in this month. But this month may not be the best time for visits but ideal for those wanting to enjoy the scenic beauty of nature.
Sep	Moderately Hot	Tourist season starts from this month. This period has a temperate climate and the region looks beautiful with many flowers and lush green landscapes after heavy monsoon. It is also a Malayalam Shravan month which draws many tourists to the place.
Oct	Pleasant	October has intermittent post monsoon showers. The climate is moderate and good for outings and sightseeing. It is a good time for indulging in beach activities like boat cruise, fishing, sand castle construction and swimming.
Nov	Pleasant	November offers the best days for tourist activities in and around the region. Warm but pleasant days and nights are perfect for beach activities like swimming, boat cruise, dolphin sighting, fishing, sand castles building and sun bath. Besides, it is also the best time for sightseeing and backwater explorations.
Dec	Pleasant	December is cool and pleasant. It is one of the best seasons for exploring the natural attractions in and around the region. Houseboat vacations and backwater explorations are attractive in this period. It is also an enjoyable period for all types of beach activities. Cochin Carnival and Tourism fair is also held in December.

Events & Festivals in Kochi

Onam, the famous festival of Kerala, is in the Malayalam Shravan Month (15th August to 15th September) and the celebrations are very attractive.
Cochin Carnival, a merry making festival to welcome New Year, is held annually in the last week of the year at Fort Kochi and is very attractive to the tourists.
Tourism fair is held during December every year which is spectacular show of cultural activities.
