Bhavani temple, also known as Bhavani Khadageshwar Temple, is located at Devale nearby Karnala. The temple is placed at the peak of the hilly regions. It is surrounded by ancient water tanks and rock cut caves formed by Buddhists. The temple enshrines Goddess Lakshmi, the idol is imposing with majestic glory.
The temple itself is located at the backdrop of greenery woods and misty mountain areas. The scenic location rejuvenates the mind and body with the nature’s gifts and holy ambience of the temple. Many devotees visit this temple to offer their prayers and all of them visit the Buddhists holy caves as well.

Karnala Bird Sanctuary located at the bottom of the Karnala fort is literally a paradise for bird watchers. The bird sanctuary, established in 1968, is a natural habitat for more than 150 species of resident birds and about 37 species of birds migrating from other areas of the world. The bird lovers can spot various kinds of rare birds including spotted heart wood peckers and ashy minimet. Many species of birds like racket tailed drongo, paradise fly catcher, magpie robin, red vented bulbul, myna and owl are abundantly seen here.
The environment is vibrant with avian songsters and the eco-friendly place is really a worthy place to visit.

Redeemed with the power struggle of many rulers, Karnala Fort stands as a specimen of the 13th century constructions. The fort was sparingly used by the Karnala rulers including Angres, Mudhan and Peshwas until 1818, by which time British rulers have taken over the grand old fort under their control.
The Karnala Fort engulf a steep rock in the midst of greenish surroundings and has been a challenge to many adventurous trekkers all through the past and continue to be a great attraction among the fans of trekkers. The fort doorway is adorned with many carvings of elephants and tigers. One can see cute water reservoirs developed naturally in the rocks. The cool surroundings and the beautiful landscapes make this region a place for calm weekends.

Rock climbing in Karnala is really an experience. The steep rock in the center of the Karnala fort offers the visitor a great challenge. The undulated hilly terrains approaching the Karnala fort is really sticky and dangerous. Many adventurous people visit Karnala to take up the envious challenge offered by the slippery, rough and sharp rocks and reaching the pinnacle of these rocks is really a life time experience for the rock climbers.
One can see breathtaking glimpse of the down city from the pinnacle of the rock. For amateur trekkers the Karnala trekking poses mild to medium challenges, while for common tourist it is really a great challenge to reach up to the top.

The ancient and revered Shiva temple located in Ambarnath close to Karnala is assumed to be built by Manmuniraja of Shilahara dynasty in 1060 AD. This is one of the temples where both cults of Vaishnavites and Shivaites offer prayers. The exterior of the temple is adorned with sculptured images of epic stories and of themes related to Vaishanava and Shaiva puranas.
The temple interior is covered with breath taking carvings and the mastery with which the images are made really amazes any visitor. The temple is thronged by the devotees on Shivarathri day.
