Karjat

Sewn with lush green agricultural fields and farm houses, Karjat is a picturesque village in the state of Maharashtra in India. It is located in the Konkan coast perfectly in the foothills of Matheran, the renowned hill station in Maharashtra. This place serves as the entry point and midway relaxing destination to Matheran.

Karjat is an attractive tourist outpost in the backdrop of Bhor Ghat. The undulated green plains and the hilly terrains emerging from Karjat plains make this place a much sought destination for adventurous tourists for trekking. The village has all the calmness and unspoiled atmosphere of a traditional Indian hamlet.

The river Ulhas originates in Karjat and flows westward. The river offers many water sports activity in Karjat. Ancient historical Kondana caves and exquisite Ulhas valley are two important tourist destinations nearby Karjat. Karjat serves as a weekend vacation place for domestic travelers. Recently the village has grown to a nice picnic spot sought by foreign travelers as well.

Karjat is looking for sea changes in the infrastructure developments, amnesties and tourist facilities.
