K. U. Khan, Dipl.-Ingr. (Germany) My birth place is "Cawnpore" under British. Cawnpore was considered under British as "Manchester of India". Cawnpore was also famous for 1857 Indian Mutiny, and to this day a memorial where Indian solders revolted against British Army and massacared thousands of British solders and dumped them into a well which is now called "Memorial Well" located at Phool Bagh Park. New generation of Kanpur should be pround of Kanpur history --like I am myseld.

I grew-up in Cawnpore under British. During Indian Independence days, at the time I was at 6th class at a famous Govt High School, Kanpur. Please hear this --a very surprise offer was given to all students at Govt. High. Kanpur, "Becuase of Indian Independence celeberation, each students at Govt High was given a choice to skipp one class year to go next year class. The independence day took place on 14th of August, 1947, and I was just starting up at 6th class, i choose to jump right away to 7th class". This was for me a real indepndence day celerberation without completing the 6th class.

Now having lived in America for 47 years, now I am planning to migrate back to Kanpur, and live there for good. I am planning to come to Kanpur in 1st week of November, 2009.

Any suggestion from anybody in Kanpur as to how I get to back and re-acquainted with Kanpur today. Thank you Kanpur!
