Kamarajar Lake is truly an impressive sight. A wide variety of birds can be seen at this lake. It is not uncommon for bird watchers to be able to see such birds as peacocks, herons, cranes, sunbirds, kingfishers, and storks. In fact, one bird watching group that visited the lake was able to see 160 different species of birds over a four day period of time.
The best way to experience the beauty and the wildlife at this location is to simply walk around it. A well marked walking trail has been created around the lake just for this very purpose.

The Sandayandi Temple is located right in a hill cave in the area around Kamarajar. It is an ancient Hindu temple that still has a significant religious importance today. At the new moon that occurs every year in July or August, a religious festival is held at the temple. This annual festival is attended by 40,000 or more pilgrims.
As you approach the temple, a large Bunyan tree is seen. A modest shrine is at that tree where many stop to pray. Numerous small shrines exist in the surrounding area where local people stop to pray as well.

Trekking is the perfect way for such tourists to experience India. Trekking is much more than simply taking a walk. Trekking groups are possible to join in with so that it can remain a safe activity throughout the countryside. People who are greatly interested in trekking can take the Mukurthi trek. The Mukurthi peak is located in the south west region of the Nilgiris which is at an altitude of about 2500m. People must get necessary permission form the forest range officers to trek the peak. Most times, visitors will never be permitted to trek the peak, but at times they can get special permission out of their request.
