Paonta Sahib

A holy town that carries the fond remembrance of a saintly man, Paonta Sahib locates at the tri-junction of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. A devout center where one can see numerous gurudwaras and some Hindu temples, is considered as the most holy abode of the Sikhs. It was here where the tenth guru of the Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh lived for some years, where Guru Gobind Singh had practiced the art of combat. Each and every Gurudwara commemorates some of the important events in the life of the Guru.

This place obtained its name from Paonta, which means foot. The popular belief is that Gobind Singh had lost one of his ornaments that he wore on his foots and from that time onwards the place is known as Paonta Sahib. Paonta Sahib also entails a museum where the armaments and other associated items of the Guru are displayed.
