A wetland, shaped by harnessing the streams of the Asan and the Yamuna rivers, Asan Barriage unusually referred to as the Dhalipur Lake. An asylum of the avian fauna, this lake was set up in the year 1967. Scores of exotic and resident birds find this as their abode especially in the winter months.
The dissonance of wrangling, screeching, twittering and calling of the birds shudders the serene waters, small islet swamps, nearby paddy fields and open woods. Bird watchers and ornithologists can ecstatically spot great whiskered tern, crested grebe, tufted duck, red crested pochard, and so many types of kingfishers. Not only this, one would be thrilled in seeing a 30-year-old nesting site which serves as the abode of other birds in summer.
Along with these delightful views of the feathering folks, Asan Barriage has been emerging as a popular site for water sport events where the visitors can play all these thrilling games with the help of experienced hands.
