This saintly peak that overlooks the placid lake Mansarover is believed to be the most sacred spot where the Hindus, Jains and the Buddhists came for pilgrimage. The Hindu mythology says that Mount Kailash is the holy abode of Lord Shiva, and to the Jains it is the place where the founder of their religion resides. The Tibetan Buddhist believes that Kailash is the hot seat of all super power.

Parikrama or circumambulation of the Kailas Parvat encompasses walking around the 32 miles with great devotion. The Tibetans used the term Kora for the clockwise circumambulation. It is interesting to note that whatever be the name, all the devotees does the walk with the same belief that it would alleviate them from all their sins and proffer them with the much awaited salvation.
