Kadapa is located in the Y.S.R Distrcit of the State of Andhra Pradesh. The city is located in the Southern part of the State and is relatively well developed. The city is an important part of the State as is the gateway to places such as Tirupathi. The city is located around 8 km from the banks of the River Penna. Kadapa is surrounded by hills such as the Palkonda Hills and the Nallama Hills. Kadapa is an old city and has been ruled by different kingdoms over the years. It was ruled by the Chola Kings from the 11th to the 14th century. Later it was conquered by the Vijayangar Kingdom. There are traces of these different dynasties that can be seen in the area. Kadapa was under Muslim rule and subsequently under the British also.
There are many relics of buildings that were built by the Nawabs of Kadapa. There are many temples that can be seen in the town. Some British influences can be seen in the area and there are three churches that are located in Kadapa as well. There are two towers and a few dargahs that have been present since the time of the Nawabs of Kadapa.
