Jodhpur Attractions

Loha Pol (the gate of iron) is another historic gate in the magnificent Fort Mehrangarh, like Jai Pol. It is situated in a hill about five kilometres from Jodhpur city. It is one of the seven gates in the fort. It is the fourth gate of the fort.

It leads to palaces and residences of kings. So it had been the most heavily guarded gate. It was through this gate that the bereaved queens ran into flames to commit ‘sati’ immediately after the death of their husbands. The ‘hand prints’ of those queens can still be seen in Loha Pol.
