Jodhpur Attractions

Kailana Lake is a beautiful picnic spot situated about 11 kilometres away from Jodhpur city, on the road towards the desert city of Jaiselmer. This is an artificial lake constructed in 1872 by Pratap Singh, the Prime Minister of Jodhpur at that time. This lake is sprawled over an area of 84 square kilometres.

It is said that old palaces and gardens were destroyed to construct this lake. Tourists can avail boating facility in this lake. But swimming is discouraged here. The major attraction of the lake is the fantastic view of the sunset from here. The lake is surrounded by a garden known as Pratap Sagar, in which live a variety of bird species.
